Goals? What goals? I had goals?

It is quite obvious that I haven’t written a blog in a very long time. Let’s just leave it to the no time in my life excuse. On to my topic, looking back at my goals I set last year, I have accomplished some and others I am no where were I would have liked them to be. I have accomplished one of my 16 goals… ONE!!! The ONE goal I accomplished was potty training my son. Now, like others they may look at 16 goals I set and think geez that’s the pits. Well, you’re darn right that’s the pits! The problem was that I did not keep my goals close and did not remind myself of them every day. That is where I failed! What it is going to take from me this New Year is self discipline. That every day no matter what is going on or how I feel get it and do it make it happen! I’m not going to let myself get down about it and I will think of it as a new opportunity to try again until I get it. The old me would have cried about it and kept my head down. I am stronger than that, I know better. How is this for a comeback blog? I’ll keep this one short and work on how I want to gather my other topics to write about. There have been so many on my mind and it feels good to write in this blog again.

Now go Innovate yourself and goodnight!

P.S. Click the link below and you can check out my blog I wrote last year with my goals listed if your interested in knowing what they were and all :-)

Fathers Day Weekend Weekend Wrap Up

Fathers Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. To many this day is a blessed day filled with honor. To me this day is a double edged sword, a reminding stabbing pain to the heart with a more confused mind of my father and the example he was. The pain still haunts me after all these years and, on other hand I am so blessed to have two great examples in my son’s life! My husband is the very best father that I could have ever asked for. He always makes sure Brayden’s needs are met before his own. He works so hard so we can have the time freedom in the future. He takes the time to spend special moments with Brayden and make them memorable. This is only a mirrored reflection of the father he had. Johnny has shown me that even though he also had a hard childhood he didn’t bring it to the future he stood tall in his decision to stop the past and have a better future for his kids and grandkids. He has shown me that hard work blood sweat and tears is what it takes to be that father!  I am so blessed that I get to see how much a blessing he has been in my husband and sons life.
Yesterday, I spent my day at my mom’s house tearing down a huge rock structure my father put up I believe in 1997. He says he built it just to piddle, but the way he build it and the fire place my neighbor called a old fashioned bread oven was really great architecture for just cement and rocks. He built it level and strong the only place it showed weakness was the very top around the edge, but that was due to the earthquake we had a year ago. We tore it down so it wasn’t a hazard. The structure was about 8-10 feet tall was half moon shaped with stairs winding up the side. It had a place on the top level of cement. I remember my father taking his telescope up there and looking at the stars late into the night. I honestly think that structure and the fire place was few of the many things that he actually completed. Oh he also made a really nice pond in the front yard. In the tall structure he placed a few coins in the cement with the date 1993 on them not sure if it held any significance or not. We will write him later and ask. We also discovered a rock he placed his initials on as he always did when he completed his work. It was bitter sweet tearing it down. I remember when my dad started to build it he went and gathered rocks from all over the country that he would visited, mostly the lake and private property ha ha. You could even smell the lake as we tore it down. My mom didn’t want to throw away the rocks, but keep them to maybe make a small flower bed where the structure was. I think it would make the back yard look really nice if she did do that. With all that said I am super soar today and got a great workout yesterday we picked up heavy rocks, walking, running, hauling and swinging a sledge hammer.  The morning was really nice a little humid, but it was perfect sprinkling no sun perfect weather for wrecking that huge structure! We have to go back and still finish the bottom part. My dad filled the bottom with tons of sand so that made one huge mess with clean up. Good part is my mom had a huge sink hole my dad dug up to put in an above ground cheep old swimming pool. My mom had wanted to get it filled in for years well now we have the opportunity to do it. I feel really bad for anyone who owns that house in the future and wants to put something there. We threw in all the scrap rock and mortar that we knocked off the rock in the hole along with barrels of that sand my dad had in that structure. Later we will put some fresh dirt on top so some grass will grow there again. It is exciting to see an actual big yard again even though she has her yard lined with jumbo cedar trees it still looks huge. There is still a lot of clean up in the future, but we have a great start.

Storm Chasing May 30

Hello readers! Yesterday I got to see some amazing beauty in nature. I wanted to share with you all what I got to experience. Every Thursday evening Chris parents come and pick up my son to have some Grandma and Grandpa time aka give mommy and daddy a little rest. About 4 o’clock Chris started to notice the weather pickup in intensity in Oklahoma. He got that look in his eye that was a mix between hurry up lets go and sad puppy eyes so… naturally I said sure why not! After all, I still have yet to see a tornado touchdown in real life. We did what any amateur storm spotter would do drop the kiddo off at the grandparent’s early and studied  what storm cell we wanted to chase first. We picked the closest one to us if we would have picked the one father into OK we probably would have missed out on both storm systems due to travel time. We didn’t even have time to see if anyone wanted to join us we just scrambled and left. Traveling into Oklahoma the clouds were absolutely gorgeous and huge! Full of fluffy white absorbing and reflecting the sun adding in the dark rain filled clouds it was a sight to see in just itself. Nature is always beautiful, but watching a storm from the beginning small cell grow and pull energy from all around you is just something else! Most to the time when we go we have the good radars to refer to we just had our phones to rely on yesterday. For those that are scared of storms they are scary and you have every right to be concerned when we are out chasing, but I have to make you aware we are always safe when chasing. We always follow the storm that’s why it’s called chasing. The TV shows you see those professional their goal is to want to get into the heart of the storm punching the core (driving through heavy rain and hail) because they are there to take measurements and study more of what the actual tornado does and where it will go. The professionals have done an amazing job of making us aware and giving everyone time to take cover when needed. Social media I believe has helped people become more aware, everyone should take the advice and like the weather pages/storm spotter pages to keep updated. Here are a few I follow https://www.facebook.com/ReedTimmerTVN,
Here are the shots Chris and I captured yesterday. Hope you enjoy! They are in random order. What I love about these pics more than any other is the rainbow in many pics. It was so pretty combined with the storm. Such beauty! Some pics are hard to see the rainbow panoramic pics you see it better.

Happy Mothers Day!

Today is Mothers Day a very beautiful day it has become. I have to say every day seems like the most beautiful day. I wake up every morning to a spunky energetic little boy that climbs into my bed with all of his animals. (Blankie, light up puppy, baby sea horse, Handy Manny and monkey) I do enjoy not waking up to a alarm jolting my emotions to have to get up get dressed and go to work away from my family 8-9 hours a day. I have been blessed to stay home wake up to my son and stay in my pjs all day if I wanted. A big thanks to my hubby because without his hard work this little blessing would never have come true for me, for that I am truly grateful for him! Yesterday we did our family celebrating we went to Hunans with Chris family and enjoyed a wonderful meal. Brayden brought all the mommies carnations and we took some good pics out by their gold fish pond.  After wards, we went to Smiths Garden they are a local business going out of business due to the massive drought we are having. Everything in their store was 50% off. I got me some begonias for my front window seals. They always do well with the drought and heat. I might not get to water them with the water hose, but I will be saving our bath water to do so. Watching flowers grow are such a beautiful sight! After picking out some of the flowers we went to visit my mom. I always enjoy my mommas visits she is most precious to me. I think I picked out the perfect card for her this year! J I mean every word Mom! I have a lot of ladies out there that are such a mother influence to me and for that I am very blessed for! Thank you mothers every where even to the moms that never got to hold their little ones. Those mommies are the ones who know the love and loss of a child, those two things should never be something a mother should feel at the same time that makes you extra special because of your strength threw that hard time. Bless you. Every mother everywhere have a blessed and beautiful Mothers Day!

Bloggers Block

It has been hard for me to come up with some point to talk about lately. It seems about 3 times different times this week I have written out a blog and noticed I have veered off subject every time. I got frustrated and then just deleted them. Naturally, I went to my mentor blogger aka the best friend and she suggested that maybe I should write about my day or something specific that happened to me. I had the “ah ha moment” of I am making this way too hard on myself. Bless her and her advice!

Chris and I have been entering a comfort zone that that has changed us for the better. We decided to let go of working on ourselves and start working on others! Chris started up a fan page on fb that is targeted to helping others lose weight, create positive motivation and show them how he has accomplished his 162# weight loss. His page within 24 hours received 100 likes! That is Fantastic and we thank each and every one of them for the support! As he post his experiences, tips and stories of struggle we started to see this movement created. People want the change they are hungry for it. We have met people we never thought we would meet and showed them how they too can change their life.  Now those people are on their weight-loss journey. It is so fantastic to be able to share and help them too. Due to us starting the fan page people have been more and more interested in the way we eat. I am the one that comes up with the fabulous meal creations so I thought just next best thing is to start my very own food blog! Stay tuned because it is gonna rock you socks off!

Why T.H.O.R. Was A Life Changer.

I have shared with you” my readers” about my past before so this quote I caught from a online fb sight should be no surprise. “Overcoming Sexual Abuse FB Page” "Many neglected and abused children grow up to be adults who are afraid to take risks of striking out on their own. Many will remain dependent on their abusive parents and unable to separate from them. Others leave their abusive parents only to attach themselves to a partner who is controlling.” Nice Girl Syndrome by Beverly Engel (Thank god I have a good man not one whom is controlling!)
This past weekend I participated in my first 5K Obstacle Run.

I have to explain to you because when I was a teen and “When everything hit the fan”, I was diagnosed with Dysthymia (dis-THIE-me-uh) is a mild but long-term (chronic) form of depression. Symptoms usually last for at least two years, and often for much longer than that. Dysthymia interferes with your ability to function and enjoy life. Loss of interest in daily activities: Sadness or feeling down, hopelessness, tiredness and lack of energy, low self-esteem, self-criticism or feeling incapable, trouble concentrating and trouble making decisions, irritability or excessive anger, decreased activity, effectiveness and productivity, avoidance of social activities, feelings of guilt and worries over the past, poor appetite or overeating, sleep problems.

I felt as if I have let this disorder cripple me all these years I started to depend on my husband who had been my rock for so long that I didn't realize I was holding myself back from the things I really wanted to enjoy and participate in. I decided to enter this 5K obstacle run for myself to challenge myself to see how far I have grown. I am here to tell ya’ll I was sooooo very nervous to do this I was begging people to sign up for my heat so I would have a running partner of course nobody did(I guess they were just scared)J. I soon realized for me to do what I want I need to step out an own it all by myself! I did just that. I got on T.H.O.R. Facebook and asked who was running in my same Heat (running time). I wanted to get out and meet new people make new connections. I did meet some great ladies from the YMCA that invited me to run with them. The day of the race I meet with my run time and I had one problem I never meet these ladies before and had no way of recognizing them, nor did we set a meeting spot. I did what anyone else would have done and met new people all over again. These people seem to be really nice people as we started the run I thought to myself what if I can’t keep up with them? I decided once they started to slow down that I could finish this by myself. I started then to believe in myself something that I have never done. This gave me the motivation to just keep running only stopping a few times before obstacles’ to catch my breath.

This video above was last years run so you can get the idea.

I ran through mud, standing water, tires, over cars, over large wooden spools, over fences and walls. I approached the rope courses, rope walls and monkey bridges with ease. I was really impressed with myself! I sat back and watched so many others struggle to climb or approach an obstacle. When I saw someone struggle I was right behind them cheering them on hoping my cheers gave them motivation. Everyone behind me sat and stared impatiently waiting their turn complaining and grumbling on how they should have skipped the obstacle. It really surprised me after all; we are all on the same team why not encouraging and help each other? The end of the course was the one I dreaded the most! I saw it coming into the race they had a swamp boat set up on the bank of the tiny river we have. They set up pallets to make it easier to get into the river without slipping, and then you had to cross the river with the swamp boat motor at full force blowing wind and water in your face. As I crossed the mucky, nasty, can’t be seen threw water I kept telling myself I can do this I can finish. Dark murky water that you can’t see threw to the bottom is one of my biggest fears! I did it! I crossed and finished the race in about one hour. I believe I would have been finished sooner if there wasn't a hold up at some of the obstacles’ I waited 20 min just to go over the net rope wall. In conclusion, I am so proud of myself! I completed the course with confidence and a new found person with an addiction to the T.H.O.R Obstacle Run! I plan to research other obstacle runs in the future and demolish these as well! Sit and watch guys because my past will not determine my future!!!

The Walking Dead

I have been for the past year seeing more and more post on how much The Walking Dead has been so good and addicting of a series on FB. I gave in we started to watch the series online. The fist episode of the first season had me and my husband messed up! I quote him “I do not want to watch this series it messed me up” Our minds was full wondering with the” Oh my gods”, “What would I have done?” and “What ifs”.

All of the TV series I have watched and scary movies I have seen don’t hold a candle to this TV Series! I think it has a profound impact do to the many rumors we hear that the government could have a Zombie like outbreak happen and them having a emergency plan for it just in case…. That right there should tell ya that they have been fooling around with some kind of virus. Oh and with people taking that drug that caused them to eat another human alive! Ek!

We continued on watching on the edge of our seat basically the WHOLE time needless to say we are now about to start season 3 tonight. I will not give away any spoilers or plot points, but I highly recommend this series for anyone who likes the anxiety thrilling suspense of what if this happened in my real life.  I been taking notes even though the show is not real and may not ever happen I will be continuing to take mental notes you just never know what those scientist have in those labs… Just saying.

More info on the series click the link provided below.

Potty Training!

This week I have been potty training my 2 year old son. To my surprise it has been going remarkably well! I never pushed the subject on him I wanted it to be his idea. Ever since he could stand I would change his diapers in the bathroom put his waste in the potty and let him flush so he would be more familiar and comfortable with it. Monday morning he wakes up and we go to the bathroom. I go to change his diaper and he didn't want to put a new diaper on. I told him, “Okay you want to be a big boy?” He was at the moment unsure what I was asking of him. I gave him a smile and said, “Were going to be a big boy today no more diapers you’re going to go pee and poo in the toilet like Mommy and Daddy.” I directed him to his underwear drawer and let him pick his heart’s desire of character undies he wanted to wear. I had bought everything he would need for potty training when he was 18 months. We tried for one day then and you could just tell he wasn't ready. I did buy a chair it was a waste of money. Brayden knew already that we go in the potty to it was just easiest to show him the way we did things. He gets his stool stands up there and gets a kick out of seeing bubbles he makes in the toilet. He did so fantastic the first day. Had a few accidents, but quickly learned we take it to the toilet. Day 2 was easier he was learning to hold himself for longer periods of time even the #2. He would feel the urge run to the toilet sit and push then get up and say I’m done. We did this several and I mean several times all day long until he finally couldn't hold it no more. He was scared at first, but once I made a big deal and praised him for going he started to understand more. Its Friday now and I think I can safely say he has mastered the poo having to only go back and forth less often. He has had accidents I just try and stay prepared with: extra clothes, wipes, undies, and always know where the bathrooms are. I have to say potty training him brings me sadness and happiness. I’m sad because he is growing up doing things all by himself Mr. Independent. He has always favored the independent side, but now more than ever he has to help with everything and do things the way he likes. Heck you know why I’m happy I don’t have to buy any more stinking diapers or change them! Oh I do want to say I tried the sticker reward when he went he wanted the sticker, but had no desire to put them on a chart of any kind. I also learned that an iPad, toy or book didn't help him just distracted him for the reason he went in the bathroom in the first place. All trial and error with this kiddo, but hey all kiddos are different they learn and develop all differently. After 7 days Brayden has gone two complete days with no accidents telling me each time when he needs to go. We had Easter at the his grandparents house Sunday and he did amazing we had to sneak him to the bathroom to make sure he didn't have a accident. He had a blast playing with all his cousins! He now even goes threw this "I don't want mommy to take me to potty I want to do it myself phase"  He even after he tells me he needs to go he then wants to go by himself. He says  " No mommy! I do it." He even once shut the bathroom door on me! ha ha He is getting the hang of it and that makes me to happy he is growing up!  I am so Proud!

Window Into My Fridge & Routine

Hello fellow readers of all kinds! I do apologize for not blogging on a normal basis; I feel it means more in my writing if I write when I feel the inspiration to write. Some people have been interested in what I eat, what foods I buy, and how my day goes on my Facebook.

With this being said, I want to take you guys threw my typical mommy, active, healthy life-style day. I wake up just like many of your guys do only with the added toddler wake up call, but the first thing I do when I wake is make my bed. There is just something about making the bed in the morning; it makes me feel accomplished and for some reason happier.
(obvious this is not me, but what I do ;-))

Then it’s time for breakfast. We don’t have in our cupboard what the typical American family has. We eat Oatmeal (Prefer steel cut not prepackaged or artificial fruit added) or eggs with whole wheat toast and fruit or my personal favorite Nutrimeal shake.

For lunch my son Brayden has been going through a phase on peanut butter sandwiches so that’s what he has most of the time with a side of veggies. I have left over’s from the dinner the night before, make a chicken sandwich, packed veggie salad, or tuna salad. If I’m on the run ill make a protein packed Nutrimeal shake.

We eat all left over’s in our house and all food in our house. We only put food into our home that is organic as much as possible, whole wheat, lots of veggies and fruit. We don’t eat snack food; that means no cookies, processed freezer food, no cokes and no sugar! We don’t even have sweetener in our home either. If something needs to be sweetened like oatmeal we add pure Maple Syrup or natural real honey. Other than water we drink green tea (unsweetened), Pom juice, V8 Fusion juice (for Brayden), Rev3 (energy drink), and non rBST free (Bovine growth hormone) skim milk and of course black coffee. Now, I know what you’re thinking…. “They are depriving that poor child of McDonalds’ and sweet stuff! Omg how could they?” I seriously laugh when people tell us this, because they have NO idea what they are putting into their mouths or their kids mouths for that matter. I always say that self education is so very important! If people only knew what the good old government lets these so called companies do to our food and add to our food. Yes, I said it add and do, the burger your grandparents ate at McDonalds it not the same burger you eat today! That is FACT! The recipe has been changed to prolong the life of the food to make things faster and more efficient.
                                                                   (2 years old Fast food)

You would make the decisions my family has done as well if you learned what we have learned. It’s easy to educate yourself, buy books, research your ingredients, and watch food documentaries’. Here I’ll give you a few to start watching “Food Matters”, “Food Inc”, “Forks over Knives”.  Ok sorry about the tangent I went on, but some people need the wakeup call!

Another BIG change we had in our family recently was no cable! Our contract ended with Direct TV and they didn’t offer internet service. We searched around looking for another service and then Chris and I had a ah ha moment. I was reading Dani Johnson’s book “First Steps to Wealth” I got to the chapter in the book about War on Debt. I then realized we spent money in areas where we could have been saving we were paying for non necessity items and not putting our money into other smarter investments or assets. We also took a look at how Chris and I were staying up to 12am every night glued to the TV watching our favorite shows. We realized in order to get to where we want to be we have to start making sacrifices we should not have the time for TV. We were grooming our son also to watch TV all day and that was NOT okay! He should be playing, learning, and running around outside. These are the overall reasons why my family doesn’t have Cable. Brayden still has his movies and he does watch a few per day, but nothing near what he did watch.

How do I fill my time during the day? I read my personal development books, play with my son, exercise, I even have a weekly house cleaning schedule. Threw rereading this blog post just now I realized I didn’t even talk about dinner! I guess that’s what I get for distracting myself. Ha ha!
(My handsome hubs cooking with me)

Our dinners are cooked mostly from scratch. They are always Low-glycemic as much as possible and as I mentioned before I use what I have. When I get a yawn from our menu I Google new recipes and almost always have to substitute ingredients. It’s always trial and error with me in the kitchen. My family and I also plan to plant a lot of our food this year, that’s going to be a lot of fun! You will eventually find your nitch with learning what foods are good and what foods are not so good. Don’t be afraid of cooking and trying new cooking methods. Here are some pictures of some of my meals I have made in the past if you’re looking for examples. Thanks for reading!
(Grilled lean burgers with lots of veggies side salad and potato fries)

(Organic Spaghetti with Asparagus and toast with a garlic Greek yogurt spread)

(Love my Baby George Foreman Rotisserie! We make lots of Rotisserie Chicken)

(Southwest Style Grilled chicken salad)

(My families favorite chip!)

(Another favorite snack roasted chick peas! Seasoned with herbs or Cajun style)

Transformation Update

Okay okay okay I am sure everyone here is dying to find out how my transformation is going. I started my journey with a 5 day program called Reset that consist of 3 low-glycemic meal replacement shakes along with two bars and two packages of supplements a day. You also want to add a serving of low glycemic veggies and one serving of low glycemic fruit. Based on the average results you can lose 5 lbs within 5 days This program is the most nutritional weight-management system on the market you also can use this program for detoxing.

My starting weight was 104 lbs. Now I did the full Reset and yes I did loose some weight, as expected right? I lost two maybe three pounds my husband lost 7 lbs the Reset program is different for every person I didn't have much to loose that's obvious and not my goal. My goal for participating in the Reset was to detox my body shed the nasty holiday food and knock my sugar craving. My next move is to packing on the pounds of healthy lean muscle.
I will be honest I haven't done a whole lot of heavy working out. I have be really concentrating on toning up before bulking up. You have to start some where right? I sometimes partner with the hubbs and do some conditioning with him and sometimes I just put the music on in the house and do work outs with my toddler. Playing the " I'm gonna get you game" with throwing in lunges up and down the house. Brayden loves to get involved so I try and do as much as possible with him. I even bend over and pick him up over and over (building that upper body strength) ;-) It is also going to sound weird to you but my craving for sugar is gone! I want and crave veggies and fruits like you wouldn't believe! The brighter the color the more my saliva gland gets all hot and bothered! ha ha! I am loving it!

Last but not least I had another awesome discovery I had during the Reset week was that my face completely cleared up! I consider myself to be the queen of cover-up! Before I had my son I got off of the birth control and my acne took a turn for the worse. All threw my pregnancy and after I had major break outs that would cause me to constantly pick or mess with my face. So I am staying strong with not messing with my face and keeping up with my facial routine.

Themed Physical Events

Over these past few years I have taken notice to different themed runs people are putting on to raise money and incorporate health wellness. These are not your typical boring runs that you gather together hear a speaker and run for a cause. These innovating events are sparking off thought the country creating massive attention! Some are like a fun party rather than hard running, and some provoke a video game Apocalypse of adrenaline or you can even take on the Mythological hardcore warrior. All with the same goal of combining fun and exercise! The best explanation I can give you is just to show you. Down below you will find some runs I participated in and some I want to participate in this year. Check those out you might be surprised and have more fun then you actually think. I do warn you they could become addicting. ;-) These are not in any kind of order you for sure need to make sure to mark your calenders to make these events. Click the links to view the videos.

This is the Electric Run, Its a running party literally! Music at every turn, lights, glow in the dark everything!
http://youtu.be/MVTSvaNGrXE

This next one I will be training for shortly. Its a high intense obstacle run. Get into character because this one is intense!
http://youtu.be/_sHhIrejyn0

This one is one of my favorites! Zombies, Apocalyptic, Survivors You run threw parking garages, abandoned buildings with zombies chasing you! Was so much fun!
http://youtu.be/n8w77MUm7Po

This is a run that I cant wait to do also getting colorful never been more fun!
http://youtu.be/4EERSfHiqT8

The picture shown below and Chris and my first 5k in Salt Lake City Utah. The theme changes every year 2012 it was be a Super Hero Champions for a Change.

Don't think that 5k Marathons and walks have to be done in the warm weather here is a run one of my friends participated in this past Christmas. Everyone dressed up as Santa!

The moral of this is that becoming active don't have to be boring it can be fun and my FAVORITE part of all is all donations and go to help different charity's and causes. Get out there look in your community how you can participate and you can be making a huge difference!

Transformation Self Challenge

Destination Transformation Usana Reset Challenge as of tomorrow, the 7th, will be in full swing! This is a 12 week weight-loss challenge for Usana Associates and Preferred customers. My husband has already started his weight-loss transformation over two years ago with him already at 115 lbs lost! He will be on the downward spiral to finishing his weight-loss transformation within these next 12 weeks by dropping another 60 lbs! I will also be participating with Chris, but not for the Destination Transformation challenge. My reasoning is quite the opposite, I need to gain the weight, not just weight, but lean muscle mass. The Reset can also be used as a cleanse, because it is super high in fiber. full of protein, and packed with vitamins creating the perfect solution for curving that bad carb and sugar cravings. My weight as of today is 104 lbs I plan to beef up my weight to 125 lbs. I will accomplish this by gaining 21 lbs of lean meat by weight training, low glycemic foods, nutrimeal whey protein shakes, supplementation and HARD WORK.
Below I pulled some images from Google a few motivational pics so you can get a image of what I been dreaming about.
